I have been looking for a new truck lately and i found two that i really like. They are both identical trucks just one has a 5.3 and 3.23's and the other has a 6.0 LQ9 and 3.73's. Both trucks are 05' extended cab LS and both have 20's. I was wondering what the difference would be in gas mileage between the two. I was hoping someone on here might have a truck similar to the ones i am looking at, particularly the one with the 6 liter. I have been leaning towards the 6.0 for the performance aspect but im worried about the mileage being are 13 like my brother inlaws hemi. I know dodges are dogs but thats all i have to compare to that has 345 horses. I was guessing 16-17 hwy with the 6.0? If anyone can give me an honest answer i would appreciate it.

My 01 CCSB 1500 HD 3.73 gear was about 12-13 city and highway. This was with FIPK, headers, cat back exhaust and nelson hot tune. My 05 ECSB LM7 on 17" wheels is 16 on the money. The 05 has the display for MPG and I dont know what gear the 05 has.

I drive em hard though. The company buys gas. It really depends more on how you drive.

IMHO I would get the 6.0

I get the 6.0 you will have a lot of potential with that setup. And yes the MPG will be a lil lower with the 6.0, but you can't have the best of both worlds got to choose gas milage / POWER.

I agree with Bad Apple. One thing to keep in mind is what do you really want. If you want HP and performance typically you do not get good MPG. If you want the HP then get the 6.0 and the nelson hot tune and run the highest octane fuel you have in your area. Yup, its expensive. Here is how to calculate the MPG

=HOW FAST YOU GO=HOW MUCH MONEY YOU SPEND. I may be wrong on this calculation so maybe some others will give input.

It is my experience that if MPG is a concern at all then give up the HP and performance keep it stock and drive 10 MPH slower than usuall.

    Thanks
