I like my truck a whole lot better now!

I pulled the 228 cam out and sold it and replaced it with a stock 6.0 cam I had laying around. I have way more low end by far and the 3200 converter makes it fun to drive. I didnt touch the tune yet but my fuel mileage has went to 20 to 21 on the hwy. I got 400 miles to 20 gallons of fuel yesterday. Yea it idles at 850 instead of 550 like it should but wow what a differance. I dont have the high end pull from 4000 to 6500 rpm but I can snap your neck with a hard launch. It feel way faster than it did but I do miss the strange looks I got with the 228 when I was idleing around town wondering wtf.

Its very odd my wife just drove it and come back with a smile on her face. Said she liked it alot better. It is just a mail order tune but I would think it was pretty close for the 228r so I dont think the tune was jacked up. Keep in mind my truck has about 800lbs of tools so it takes it alot to get it moving and I didnt have enough converter for the 228r cam. I needed a 3600 or higher

a stock truck with a decent stall size will feel pretty quick off the line.
the 228 like you said has a lot more topend vs the stock cam.
i don't see anything odd about a stock cam feeling stronger off the line vs that 228 cam.

but i bet the 228 is faster and pulls harder mid range and up.

It's crazy how many people really ask or tell you something isn't right that I need to fix it lol! I normally tell them that's what ez-mart gas does

For something that gets driven everyday I could def see where a stock cam would be much more enjoyable especially putting around town and not having to give 3/4 throttle at every stop light in town just to keep up with traffic hence why my truck is full bolt on (stall, gears, exhaust, intake etc.) and no cam, i bought another ride for all that jazz

It was the combo that was killing you, but a stalled truck is always a dang good time.
