    displacement on demand

hey guys i have been looking at 2 never vehicles which both have the dod. i have been doing some research on this and have been getting alot of mixed reviews. as usual with the interenet, you always get a 50/50 response. is this sytem really that much of a pain in the ass? should i stay as far away from it as possible or just leave the dod alone and work its magic or have it removed in a tune? the truck will be a daily driver with slight bolts ons intake, exhaust and a tune.

It can be tuned out with one click. Its a pain if you plan to mod the truck, but nothing that someone that can pull heads can't change.

You will need to swap lifters and lifter trays and valley cover I'm not sure what else

If you're not going to be doing big mods like a cam then it should be just fine with the basic bolt ons. And like said above it can be tuned out very easily.

thanks guys i knew that they existed but never looked at a truck that had them. once my envoy got stollen i started looking at 2008 and up pickups and i test drove a ltz that had it and i thought it was a pretty neat idea. but then it got me to thinking if it would cause problems and headed to the net to look it up. from everything i saw most people were doing everything to try and get rid of it. but if its not that bad i will just leave it. worst case is i can just have it tuned out. thanks again.

Like Travis said, as long as you don't plan on camming it you can just have it tuned out. It really is 1-2 clicks to turn it off. Also, don't spin this motor too high with the DOD lifters. They are prone to failure at higher RPM. Keep it under 6200 to be safe.
