    Help!!!!!!

OK so I started pulling my motor and everything was going fine untill I got to the converter bolts not a single one would budge. so out of desperation I decided to just pull the coverter with the engine but as Im half way through doing that i realize I wont clear the front cross memeber . So two questions

1 what the hell is with those converter bolts who in thier right mind would use allen bolts for that aplication and does any one know a way to get them off.

2 so Im thiking of pulling the front cross memeber , does any one have a reason not too?

Please let me know I am at the point of just rolling it into the street and setting her a blaze . Thanks

this is the first time i have read anything about allen bolts being used as converter bolts
    ok questions
1: are you trying to take out the converter bolts by yourself? if so have a friend over next time to hold it still vea the dampener bolt
2: by front cross member are yopu talking about the trans mount?

when i removed my trans the only thing i needed to take off was the exh. and the trans mount cross over

Yes I had Someone helping with the converter bolts but the little bastards wouldnt budge.

and by front cross member I mean just that the one that is directly under the engine . My issue is that I cant get the motor far enough forward for the converter to clear the tranny befor the oil pan hits the crossmember.

Tear apart the front end? Remove radiator and boom. Plenty of room to move the engine forward.

why not just drop the trans, 5 bolts and 2 hoses and a plug, hell youve done the hard part. Every stock converter ive ever pulled has had allen heads.

I think you guys are missin the point. He wants the motor out not the Trans. I have never seen Allen bolts in the converter, they are a 15 or 17mm hex with an allen hole on the center. The motor with the converter still on, is too long.

To answer your question yes the cross member can be removed as long as the vehicles weight is not on the suspension. Support the frame with jack stands.

You can also unbolt the top part of the radiator support.

Use a long extension and you can put a socket head on it and impact it from in front of the motor. Sounds ghetto but it works.

This. Adding a little heat should help too.

You could also try using a chisel and hammer or air chisel to break them loose.
