    Small Vehicle DD's

I have been kicking around the idea of getting a small car for my wife for a lot of reasons.
    1) MPG Going from 17mpg to low 30's would be nice especially on long trips.
    2) I think she will be safer in the snow. FWD car>2wd ECSB truck with 1tirefire.
    3) She can park easier.
    4) New=warranty and at least a little less likely to have issues.

Now here are my current options that have crossed my mind and she wants something new from the dealership.
    A) Chevy Cruze LT with RS package. Looks good, reasonable power and gets 40mpg highway. 19k OTD last time I was at the dealership
    B) GMC Arcadia (I know not a small car) I like the looks, 25mpg isn't bad, AWD, and can still tow. 25.5k OTD was the best I have found.
    C) Dare I say it... Ford Fiesta. I was super suprised on this one test drive was awesome. I wish Chevy made something like this. 39/29mpg, nice interior, lots of room, good power and my favorite part.... 15k OTD.
    D) ? any suggestions..... I am wondering what you guys have and what you think?
Of course I would love a Camaro or another truck just doesn't fit the budget or need.
    Thanks for your help.

We got my girlfriends pontiac G5 for 9k OTD and it gets 35 hwy. It's a little older than you're looking for. I think we're going to look into getting her a Cruze next.

I would actually love to do something like that, because it would save a grip of money and to me a couple years+50k miles isn't a big deal. To my wife its gotta be new. She has the attitude of why would you want to buy someone elses problems. So that makes it harder to work out.

Really? The one I test drove was awesome. Why didn't you like it?

A Honda on the other hand will never be in my driveway. That's coming from someone who's Uncle is the sale's manager at one of the Largest Honda dealerships in this state and lives just up the road from me. I HATE Honda more than any other brand.

Well they advertise great MPG, but its got like a 10-11 gallon tank. I filled up more often than I do with my honda when I made a straight highway trip to Louisiana. It has like 90hp, the transmission feels like its going to blow up. And on an 8 hour drive I had no cruise control.

My honda didnt want to be in your driveway anyways.. lol

Hmmmmm was it the Auto or 5speed? They claim 120hp which of course means about 70hp to the wheels. Hmmmm 10 gallon tank huh? That what 300 miles? And I will for sure get something with cruise no matter what I get since this will be for the long trips. Definitely some good stuff to consider.

I got roughly 36ish in the fiesta hammering at about 80 the whole way to louisiana. I was just exaggerating on the horsepower thing. It was just gutless and I was annoyed I had to fill up more than I do in the honda. granted the honda costed about 12ish dollars more but still.

Either way Devin above has a good point about the TDIs

Hmmmm yeah I think VW TDI's are awesome. I would love one, but the price tag drives me away.
