    Rant about Hot Rod Magazine

I've been a reader of Hot Rod Magazine since 1984 ... through thick and thin. I got my current edition (May '11) the other day in the mail. On the front cover they have a statement, "Dyno Proven $139.99 Superchargers LOL! PG. 78" ... so I dutifully turn to page 78 only to find what I was worried I was going to find. A few issues ago (Nov '10) they had chopped an '85 Corvette down to nothing but the floor pan, engine, and drive train. Well guess what the first picture they have there on page 78 ... the Corvette with two Craftsman gas powered leaf blowers attached to through tubes to a recently attached carb. All I can say is I SAW THIS ON YOU TUBE A FEW YEARS AGO!!! Freiburger you are so lame for even putting this in your magazine! I know they did it "Just For Fun", but yah, why didn't you just throw a link in your mag for the You Tube video?? Are you so hurting for articles you needed to fill up four pages with this stuff?? I am so disappointed. My current subscription is done in April '14 (I think my relatives keep buying me extensions because I don't think I've bought an extension for the past three or four years, lol), I am definitely considering not renewing.

I actually thought this was pretty cool because the youtube video was kinda shady. This seemed more real to me.

I never understood why a really high output electric blower wouldn't reliably work for forced induction...they have used them on ATVs for YEARS!

What about an electric motor to help spool a turbo? Electric motors can have massive torque output and could get instant boost out of a larger turbo that typically lags.

Theyve had electrically assisted turbos for a long time, but they require a super duty electric system to support it. I think I read that they take a 48 volt system, which of course hasnt been developed in the auto industry quite like they had hoped
