The difference between winning and losing, is having a 2nd stage.
I live in the fort worth area and just bought a complete 2003 silverado takeout 5.3 with the 4l60e for $1500 with 80,000 miles. You can buy these 5.3 engines alone all day long for $250.00 without accessories and brackets, but you have to make sure you're getting a 5.3 not a 4.8 and you possibly might not know the mileage or the vin code. Anyway, good luck with your project.
where did you get ur pull out from im in dallas area man
i bought a 07 gen4 5.3L, 60e, ecm, harness, pedal, all acc.. with 25k miles for $1700. i thought i got a good deal the motor is practically new. so if the motor has low miles i say $1100 is a good deal .

I got mine from late model import, 1409 carson st. fort worth 817-872-0108.Another one is Little Johns on eliott reeder rd in fort worth 817 626 5861. Chris Auto Recyclers in Waxahatchie,2342 south hwy 77. 972-923-3517.
lechez71 is right though, if the milage is low that is a good deal. My 80k engine & trans was well maintained so I lucked out on my deal.Just make sure you're getting a 5.3 cause sometimes it's hard to tell the difference without taking it apart and looking at the stampings on the rods. Both engines use the same block. At the rear its stamped 4.8 and 5.3. I think the best way to figure it out without a vin code is to check the tops of the pistons. the 4.8 pistons are flat and the 5.3s are dished. I hope I haven't confused you too much.
