Your first experience with LS platform

Thought there may be a few stories to enjoy from everyone. Most members on this site were already driving when the LS platform was introduced. Something sold you on building one up surely. Of course for some it will just happen to be a truck they bought.
For me. Two events sold me on a LS truck. First one was when I was a senior in high school and I had a 95 bolt-on Ram v8 Single cab. Being from a small town with very few people that race in it I thought it was pretty quick. Well a girl I was seeing at the time had a near new Silverado. This was around 02 and I believe the truck was a 01 with a 5.3 in it. Her parents would go down to the local strip with a mustang they raced and she always raced her truck. But me being cocky as the day is long thought my Dodge would hang with it. Well we took them out the to BFE where we keep a 1/4 marked off. (I think every town has one of those) And she smoked me so bad I believe she was hitting her brakes at the 1/4 mile when i was just about at the 1/8th. I knew right then... My truck was slow. Second was the first time I took my white truck out for a test drive. I had a little turbo import and my girlfriend and I were thinking the truck would be a slug in comparison.I was running around 45 and stobbed it and it broke loose and got a little side ways on the highway. From that moment the truck was bought and I havent looked back.

I've also always been a Chevy fan. I got introduced to the LS platform by a good friend of mine who had an 01 Camaro SS that he raced. He introduced the idea of dropping a 5.3 into my truck, and after some google searching, I was hooked. Then I picked up a 6.0, found this site, and hopefully will have the engine into the truck by the end of the year.

I built my 69 and saw all the guys around town being cool and such. When I built it in the beginning I was on the 67-72chevytrucks forum. Saw a couple of guys do the LS swap and it looked cool. Then bought my 07 and wished I would have done it.

My brother was looking to get a truck and we were checking out basically any GM truck. He almost got a '95 GMC with 200k with a rebuilt engine/trans. He passed on that, then I found my current truck online. We went to look at it and bought it the same day. He put about 20k miles on it and beat the crap out of it. New trans, rear, smashed both bumpers, let a kid driving it smash the bedside. I acquired it from him my senior year high school, lifted it, found this damn site, and now I want to be the fastest lifted LSX truck...
