Hey guys I posted this on ls1 tech and no one has given me much, I know there is no real answers, but I just want some opinons before I go ahead with my plans. I have a 2k rcsb 5.3, it has 65k on it with headers, K&N, 3:90 gears, and Hyperjunk. My plan is to get a Nelson Tune with some Tq Mgmt removed and a Transgo shift kit and Cooler. The problem is, all I have been reading lately is threads about blown transmissions. I want some more performance, but not at the cost of my trans going out immediatly. I know it will eventually go out either way, but I would like to think I can get another 20k out of it at least. Basically what kind of life expentancy should I have after Nelson+transgo? I don't Drag the truck on a regular basis, but I do drive pretty hard sometimes. How long have some of your 60's lasted? Any advice or info greatly appreciated. What is your opinon Allen.

That transgo will really help make your tranny last longer. But make sure you get the Transgo HD model. The Nelson Tune will also help by firming up those shifts. And you are right, there is not exact guarantee on trannies. All you can do is hope, because honestly you are at just as much risk of blowing that tranny with or without a nelson tune/transgo combo. Some last, Some don't.
Big and little of it is, that combo will help more than hurt. And concerning the TQ managment, take it all out and you will enjoy the shift kit more. While Allen can't guarantee that your tranny won't blow, he can definately make your riding experience more enjoyable.

Just a note: You can buy that Transgo HD and a Corvette Servo combo from Allen for like $130, just something to consider when you buy your tune from him. Make sure you talk to him on the phone about it.

I'm still wondering how people blow up stock 60Es with stock 5.3s... when they claim they don't drive like a nutcase. Doesn't seem possible to me...

I have 86,600mi on mine with NO TqMgt and have been that way for about 50,000 miles or so. Still shifts fine each and every day. I keep the fluid changed every 10,000 miles as it's cheap and easy since GM added a drain plug for us...

Don't make the shifts "full race" firmness. Don't powerbrake the truck. No 3rd to 1st kickdowns from super high MPH... breaks output shafts. No 3-4 WOT shifts... mechanical disadvantage for the trans.

With some upcoming mods, I'll add a good deal of power but still within the limits of the trans I'm sure. Mild 212 cam, LTs, fat stall. About 55rwhp at the shift point and about 45rwtq at the shift. No biggie as far as I'm concerned. Hell, I bet I could get 115-130K mi out of the trans with that setup. On a 6.0 probably near the same the way I drive.

Well i recently had my tranny fixed cuz i tore the shit out of the drum shaft cuz my line pressure was to high. But now its fixed it works fine. I would go with nelson tune and with the transgo reprogramming shift kit, and replace the regular clutches with the ZPak clutches and a more stronger sun shell. thats my guess cuz thats what i have and it work awesome. Because before i installed all of this i still had metal shavings in the tranny.
