Pretty sure im blew my 4l60e

Driving along stopped at a light then took off ended up at about 75% throttle and when it shifted to second I heard and felt a loud bang. Now I have no overdrive and my First to Second shift is wacked out. What did I do? And I would really like to have a 5 or 6 speed but I tow things once in awhile what would i need to swap in and what would it take? I have a tranny shop in town that is known to build some stout 4l60e's but I really want a stick.

    Sorry bout the title.

yep, gota pull it and tear her down...., gona need a new gear band for sure and "the beast" .... you might as well go ahead and upgrade everything now...youll thank yourself later. i know that sometimes you can only do what your wallet allows but i'd hate to hear it happening again because you didnt beef it up. thats what i did with mine when my radiator blew went ahead and upgraded as much as i could afford. which of course with these trannys the best upgrade that is affordable is a 4L80e

So would I be best going with a FLT level 3 4l60 or a stock 4l80? I dont plan to make over 500hp this is going to be just a fun street truck. I will not be making that much power anytime soon either so idk.

on average, from my knowledge of the 4L80e, which is limited even though i rebuilt the one in my 2500, with a few slight mods it will hold 500 hp easy. but i've heard good things about FLT too. I'd give them a call and talk to Andy. I've PM'd him with a few questions and he was always helpful.

Do you still have reverse? If so, it isn't the sunshell.
