I'm considering a cam swap
The truck in question: 2001 2500HD (CCSB), LQ4, 4l80e, 4.10 gears, 4wd
All it has so far is dual exhaust, Transgo HD2, custom tuning, and a cai.
I really thought the custom tuning and shiftkit would get it where I wanted it to be. It did not.
A long time ago I was considering a cam swap, and now I am looking into again.
The truck is, and always has been guttless at cruising rpms, and the high end is lackluster as well. I just want to wake it up a little.
I'm thinking I might go with the LSr 215/223 on 112. I keep hearing good things about it and it seems large enough to yield a dramatic enough improvement up top, while being small enough, and being ground 5 degrees or so advanced should keep the low end in tact.
I've heard a lot about it being used in 5.3's, what I'm looking for is opinions on how well it would preform in a 6.0. The advertised powerband is 1300-6500 for the 5.3 and the 4.8, would that be more like 1200-6400, or 1000-6000?
Also what valve spring can I use as it has a little more than .600 lift.
And what is a good higher stalling converter that won't break the bank for a 4l80e. Something in the neighborhood of 2800 rpm, and still able to tow slightly. Although I never do.
Thanks
