    keeping it practical

i am putting a 4 inch suspension lift on my truck and running 33x13.50s.I want to go from 373 to 411 gears but i dont know if it is worth my time.I plan on doing a 4L80 swap in the near future.

    My 3500 has 285s with a 4L80e and 4.10s . IMO go 4.56 or don't bother.

+1 on 4.56. with 33's your tranny will barely see the stock ratio once you factor in tires. love mine and barely notice the gas diff
Today 03:25 am 6 stringer o thats a good point, its ok ill just add a blinker fluid cooler
Today 03:24 AMtruckinL33 that's not a good place for it, you can overheat your blinker fluid with the capacitor
Today 03:23 AMtruckinL33 i need them for when i go back to 1985
Today 03:23 AM6stringer i mounted my flux capacitor next to my blinker fluid resevoir
Today 03:22 AMtruckinL33 me too, right next to my flux compasator!
Today 03:22 AM6stringer hey gear oil needs to be cooled, i have front and rear diff coolers

x3, just go 4.56. You never know if you might up your tire size in the future. Plus its nice to mash the gas and take off with mudders.

do bother. even 4x4s need torque. my 04 had 315s and 4.88s. it was awesome.

I ran 33s on my 99 silvy with the 3.73 no diff in mpgs lifted it 10 inches running 4.56 with a crane cam its perfect you go 4.56 with33s you will run out of top end on the road and be running around 2700 rpms in od at 70 and that will mpgs for sure and killing the motor at the same time. If your truck is a 99 up it will still scream in the mudd with no prob.

had 3.42's with 33's....went to a 3.73 locker (got whole rear end dirt cheap with low miles)

    Went to 35's....needed more gear

Went to 36's...REALLY need more gear.

I would just save the money until the bug bites you again and you go 35+

I actually get the best gas mileage with the 36's...since i was stock. It's a pig off the line but can still spin em if i jump on it. From 24-50 its a beast.

other then looking a little tougher you wont have much better performance/ ground clearance with 33's. go 6" lift with 35's and the money would be better spent. It's not much higher, still very streetable and you could still get by with the stock gearing. many people do. 4:56's with 33's will be some high rpm at 70 or 75 mph.
i have a 4l80e with 4:56 running 38.5 tires and it's still about 500 rpm higher then it was stock.
