78 chevy linkage issue after lift...

I put a 6 inch lift on my 78 chevrolet and after i got everything on, the front drive shaft wouldnt go down far enough, so i dropped the t-case about an inch... so after doing so.. all it wants to do is grind when i put it in drive or reverse... something to do with the linkage because it worked before i dropped it but i have to drop it to fit the front d-shaft..

    Any ideas welcome

Put your t- case back up and try it, your deff going to need a new shaft in the front and check the rear it may just be catching the tranny. ( slip yoke or does the driveshaft slip ) ?

    Heres mine.

Just a 6 inch suspension.. The front shaft is long enough just won't go down far enough because of the crossmember under the t-case.. I could cut a small piece out and just lift the t case back up I guess? By the way yours looks good.. If I hadn't have lost my camera I would have some pics

I think 78 has the older style t-case and the 4x shifter mounts to the floor?

if you raised or lowered the t-case the linkage may be off?

The t-case shifter is connected to the t-case on the older ones, try letting the truck roll alittle then try to shift it. Might be between gears, what t-case do you have?

Ok it's the full time 4x4 I thinks it's the 203... I can't figure it out it's like the t-case is in neutral and just grind when you put it in gear but it worked until I dropped it an inch.. I haven't had time to pull it back up been in Florida on vacation.

I don't have any experience with the 203 but here is a forum that deals with nothing but 67-91 GM full size trucks Colorado K5 - Full-Size Chevy K5 Blazer 4x4 Restoration and Off Road Community.
