    Installing 87 bed on 78 truck? swapping tanks

    Whats gonna be the best way to switch the gas tanks.. im putting a 87 long bed on my 78 long bed ...and the gas tank on the 87 is on driver side.. and the gas tank on 78 on passenger side.

    can you get the fuel lines off the '87?

    should be able to run the fuel lines and wiring for the '87 sending unit and all off the '87 truck. atleast I think it should be that simple. I too am going to a
    '87 tank and sending unit, but my '85 had the tank on the driver side already

    well.. im done! i took the 87 tank and put it on my 78 bolted up perfect on driver side.. pulld old rubber line off went to auto zone got 2, 4 foot pieces of fuel line installed that... and was done... used the 78 sending unit because the 87 had the electric fuel pump.. i think.. it had all the wires and looked like one.. also just extended the fuel gauge wire, and bolted the ground down.

    it should bolt up perfect since lots of trucks in that gen had dual gas tanks. oh and pics of the swap

    i want to post all these pics of my project.. the 78 just got a new holley 600 on it and some more stuff also adding a 6 inch rough country i just got in.. along with 35 inch tsl swamp daddys.. i lost my camera.. ill have to try to do some mobile uploads in a day or so
