Thread: ECM swap?

    ECM swap?

I have an 01 harness as most of you know. It's going in my 98 c1500 with a lq4. Now I was gonna use a 411 ecm but I have one laying around out of a05 silverado, think its a 463 one. If I put the green cover on my harness and compare pinouts and swap pins around as needed to make my red/blue harness match a green/blue harness can i use the new ecm or is there more to it than that?

Use the 0411 PCM and all of your gauges will work.

Ok so If I use the new ecm my gauges wont' work? The reason i'd want to do that is for $100, I already have a 463 ecm and just wanted to know if I could use it.

also know that if you swap out pcms you will pull a crank code, there is much talk about this on other ls1 sites but im pretty sure it can be tunned out.

You can use the 99-02 harness to run a 03+ PCM, a few wires have to be swapped and the TAC wired in.
You won't be able to use drive by cable with the green PCM. You would then have to run 03+TAC and TB. Also the PCM controlled HVAC is triggered by serial data.
All of that would end up costing you more than the PCM.
    Just stick with the 0411

YOu can use the blue/green connector pcm on drive by cable vehicles. The express vans use drive by cable and they use the blue green connectors.
