Angry 4l60E Rebuild problem. Anyone good at this?

Just finished a transmission rebuild yesterday on my 2000 Silverado 4.8l and when I was putting the driveshaft back in I noticed the output shaft of the transmission is sitting off center. It looks like it's angled down and won't let the driveshaft slide in. Also, when I put it in neutral, the output shaft will only turn one way. It locks up the other way. Does anyone know what is wrong and what is involved in fixing it?

I'm not help, but definitely sounds like you got to tear it back down and check it. maybe something went in wrong during assembly. Don't take any chances, stop and tear it down, it sux, but worth it.

It does suck. The last thing I want to do is pull it again with 30 degree weather coming. I was hoping to hear someone say that it can be fixed by pulling the tail shaft.

The output shaft will be much harder to turn in one direction verses the other. Try to use a pair of channel locks to turn it. If you can not turn it in both directions I would suspect that the band is way to tight.

As for the position of the output shaft. This may not be a problem. If you have a worn case bushing it might hang a bit. Also transmission end play might effect this. Keep in mind that the yoke and the extension housing bushing are what centers it in the housing. Good luck with your project. Vince
