    help with my build guys

ok, so i get to start blank with 5.3 litre, i was gonna go boosted but my girlfrieds car decided to blow a head gasket today and she drove it home. and now it will not move cause the block is seized very excited. so anyways i get to do a aggresive na build and hope for boost later. anyways, this is what i have planned

    243 heads
    i already have a 2800 stall
    comp 918 springs
    chromely push rods

    i was thinking about this cam @.050 227/241 .564/.547 109 LSA
i love the way it sounds
the guy who has it right now has it in a 4.8 with no stall but ive been told id need like a 3500+ cam for it to even run right.

im also looking into a flt stage 4

thoughts on a cam? would this cam work? what would you recomend? anything is very appreciated. very new to lsx engines and very excited to build this engine. i already have 4.56 gearing and some bolt ons all in my sig

    thanks guys
Today 03:25 am 6 stringer o thats a good point, its ok ill just add a blinker fluid cooler
Today 03:24 AMtruckinL33 that's not a good place for it, you can overheat your blinker fluid with the capacitor
Today 03:23 AMtruckinL33 i need them for when i go back to 1985
Today 03:23 AM6stringer i mounted my flux capacitor next to my blinker fluid resevoir
Today 03:22 AMtruckinL33 me too, right next to my flux compasator!
Today 03:22 AM6stringer hey gear oil needs to be cooled, i have front and rear diff coolers

that cam would be good for N/A or nitrous. but horrible for boost. I'm in the process of going boost I had to get rid of my ASA cam cause it would not work with boost very well at all

txstvanwilder: but i got lube so i didnt complain
mean05: he told me a price and i bent over and lubed up

Not a fan of the cam choice, but to each his own. I'll be running a 228R (228/228 .588/.588 112LSA) with a 3600 stall.

That cam will take too much compression out of your engine, and it won't run very well. It would make nice power at high rpm, but you will lose too much down low and more thank likely you would regret it. I would look into comp cams LSR cams for the 5.3. Those are some sweet cams for dd. Your stall and gear ratio you have now would be pretty well matched with the LSR cams.

That's the comp mutha thumpr cam..I've heard good and bad things about it. If your staying with the 2800 I'd go with the 212/218 or the tr220, but that's just me. I'm sure I'll get some for this but to be honest if you plan to do nitrous later on...the ls1 hotcam is awesome on it, I know this first hand.

I still wouldn't use it. Its more for sound than performance. The best cam I've seen on a 5.3 yet is probably Garrissons or bluecajuns.

    .020 or .030 not .2 or .3

just to make sure youre clear...

another thing that ive thought about since we talked about it last is since youre lifted with id have to assume big ole tires, a smaller torqueier cam with the 2800 stall would probably better ofver a huge cam/stall. sorry i never said that before....

    what you guys think?
