    Hey guys,

Thought I'd share this with you. I'm not sure how everyone else is stacking up to this, but I thought it was very impressive.
A couple of weeks ago, I installed a cam/springs/rods and an 02 pcm in my father in laws 99 GMC 5.3L ec. It turned out great, we can't wait to take it to the track!

Well, on the way to Hi Way auto, we filled up just down the road from my house, on the way there, we hammered it many, many times and averaged about 85mph.
On the way back, we were carrying the engine, and took it easy all the way home.
The total trip was 415 miles, we made the trip on one tank of gas. There is no doubt in my mind, we could have went 450miles / tank if we took it easy on the way up there. About 7 miles before we got home, the fuel light went off. So, we weren't completely empty on the way back.

Anyone else have an experience like that.

The 02 pcm and really the cam woke up the truck very nicely.

    later,

    allen

Made it from houma, la to your place on one tank and that was 522 miles. I can't wait to put the 02 pcm on and see the difference.

I picked up 2mpg city and hwy and 3.5mpg towing. Also I have a 37 or 38 gallon tank. It takes about $60 to fill up.

Filled up before I left for Transgo install ran 80-90 all the way up there to JAG w/ a "few" sprints to pass some slow people. Got install done, went to run truck w/ Joe to see how it turned out w/ a few more sprints. Picked up bro. to go get food, another "sprint" to about 80 on the feeder. Waited in line to get food. GOT HIT !!! Pissed off now... More "sprints" to find a car wash to get coke out of truck. Got two more cokes. Haulass back home w/ more "sprints" to pass some more slow people. Get back home backing into driveway "Low Fuel" lights up. Fill up the next day mileage shows 407.x miles...17.6 MPG

Thats awesome but at $2 a gallon is getting kinda expensive to drive this thing around. I used to have the 4.3 but I bet this LS1 will give better gas, I'll make sure I post once its running.
    Had a 91 SB, Open diff, 3.08 gears, stock LS1/T56. 14.8@95.9...sold.
    Now, 90 C1500 350tbi/NV3500....just bought a 5.3...need T56, Swap parts.....

    Hey allen,
I wish my truck got that kind of gas mileage. With the 80-e in it, my 5.3 is just sucking down the gas. I checked my gas mileage the other day when i filled up, and according to the numbers, i am getting an unimpressive 10.4 mpg. i think i drove 241.8 miles around town on that tank. Any ideas??? Before i put in the 80-e, the mileage was a lot better than this. I didnt think it would have made that big of a difference.
