    HELP! how are you guys cleaning the engine

    hey guys, i just picked up a lq9 and have been trying to clean it up for paint. how are you going about this? taking it all apart or what? i'm afraid to get water in there so i have been using brake cleaner and compressed air. its not going too well. i have disassembled all accesories, starter, trans, intake, etc. i need help... thanks guys Dennis

    Maybe try some brake cleaner and a red scotch brite pad. That should work.

    its the grease in all the little crevices thats giving me grief.

    do i need new gaskets when i put the intake and water pump back on?

    How far apart is it currently? If it is still mostly together just tape off the holes and I would just spray it down with degreaser and pressure was it with hot water, cold water wont do anything. If it is all apart do the same thing but just hit it with compressed air right after any you shouldn't have hardly any rust if any at all.
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.

    gotter done!! thanks for all your help guys... just took lots of patience, brake cleaner, rags, and purple power.
