Question about MT Baja Claws...

I'm in the process of installing a suspension lift, and I will be needing new tires, preferably 35" or 37"...nothing too radical, but I like the MT Claws.

Is anyone running these tires on the street, and if so...how do they perform? I really like the looks of the tire, and I run 25% or less off road. I want to know if they are decent enough on the street or highway. Any feedback would really be appreciated.

they are gonna be rough on the street. Better then super swampers im sure but for 25% off road use find at least a 50/50 tire. Any mud tire is gonna wear out quick with use on pavement, and usually the better they are in mud the faster they will wear out on road. The baja claws are excellent in mud. Even though i will be using my truck mostly off road i still went with bfg km2's. they are an expensive tire but a good all around tire and low on road noise compared to baja claws.

If you don't mind replacing your tires after 30k miles and quite a hum on the highway, the claws will be some nice tires.
You would almost be better off getting a second pair of rims and tires for off road use. with the cost of decent mud tires it would be worth it to change them for going off roading. check out the MT mtz also

Be fine as long as you get the radial. (Not sure if they make a bias model)

If I had the cash, I would have definitely purchased them.

i like my buddy's tsl's and his dad's super swampers both of them have more than 20K miles on them

I have had a few friends purchase MT tires. The only MT tires I would buy are the Race tires called super diggers designed for light weight bugggies. My friends that put them on their disco trucks were very dissapointed in the road noise and durability. Stick to a Goodyear kevlar MTR or BFG, But I have had 0 luck with BFG. Only tire I have had 0 issues with are Cooper Discoverer STT and Goodyear Yellow label MTR.

Hey...thanks for all of the input. I'm running the Hankook MT's currently and they have some noise on the road, but tolerable. I'll let you know what I decide.

what's the point of big tires if they are quiet? the louder the better


mt claws wear really weird, but an awesome tire. I have all-terrains solely because I drive 75% highway at highspeeds. They make a little noise, but will hopefully last 45k-50k miles. My old swampers didn't last a summer.

BFG all terrains may be a good choice for you, they aren't like the baja claw in mud but you will get lots of highway miles on them. I see a lot of people with mud tires on the streets and they are usually worn down really bad. get a winch and you can run anything.

Well...first, I'm not opposed to tire noise...it's cool to me...besides the wife rarely rides in my truck...she's the one that would probably complain!

I've had the BFG All-terrains before, but I like having a large wide tire with plenty of side-bite, and of course a tire that looks bad-a$$ too! I hadn't decided on the claws...they just satisfy the bad-a$$ component!! I really like my Hankook Dynapro MT's...no complaints, but they will probably only last 40K'ish. I also like the looks of the Goodyear MTR's w/ Kevlar...and for what I do...just about any MT or extreme tire will do, I just hadn't seen anyone with the MT Baja Claws on the street.
