    tune up

my truck is a 05 ecsb silverado with a 4.8 and about 87,xxx miles on it. the ole girl seems to be losing some power and a tad bit of gas mileage. im getting right under 20mpg with a k&n intake and aftermarket exhaust but i have never brought this truck to a shop to get tuned up. i havent had one problem with her yet. what i am asking is what is considered a basic tune up for a truck?? id like to do it myself instead of dishing out all that money for a shop to do it. i am also looking into the nelson performance tunes. i heard great things about them. thanks ahead for the suggestions guys .

tr 55 spark plugs. 1.99 each at advance the part number is 3951.

Wires are probably fine. Your 05 doesnt have a fuel filter, so maybe get a can a seafoam and run that through a little while before you change the oil.

Then run a synthetic oil and decent filter.

What kind of mileage would you expect to get out of those plugs? Mine need changing and I'm broke.

Would you like the speel GM service writers tell you or what you actually need to do? Get the injectors cleaned. Get some Delco top end treatment (or seafoam) run some of it thru via a vaccum line, new plugs, clean and re-oil your air filter and go light on the oil or you'll be cleaning the MAF soon (should do that too). Good quality oil and oil filter (FRAM is not quality, Delco or K&N is what you want). Probably something I'm forgetting
