    6.5L diesel??

Hey guys, there is a guy who is selling me a 1983 silverado 4wd RCSB that it originally had a 6.2L diesel I think and he swaped to a newer 6,5L diesel engine and put a 700 tranny on it, posi rear end and banks system.. My question is, does anyone know any background on 6.5's engines?? How can I compare a truck running that diesel engine vs the same truck running a cammed 6.0L gasoline?? (1/16 of mile sand race)

    thanks guys!

they arnt built for speed thats for sure, its not like the cummins where there slow stock but u can make gobes and gobes of power (or any other diesel on the market for that matter) also its posible its not the newer 6.5 they make kits for the 6.2 to go to 6.5 and the banks sidewinder turbo kit was a factory installed option from i wana say 89-last year of the 6.2 (i think 92 or 93) thats also a short track gota remember it takes a while for a diesel to build up some boost

The 93-94 cable pumps aren't bad but the 6.5 is not all that strong. The 95-99 optic pumps are trash. Lots of accelerator pedal and lift pump problems too. They had 4L80's behind them (the 1st application of the 80) not 700's. That would worry me too.

6.0 FTW on this one. Duramax or Cummings might be different but not likely
99RCSB Broke because I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars on my truck.
