air conditioning?

My 2000 GMC started making the awfullest racket coming from the front of the engine when I started driving it again after sitting for 2 months, I thought it may have been a pulley but it was coming from down low around where the ac compressor is. So I kick the ac on and it goes away, kick it back off and it dosen't come back untill I drove it some.

Well it has got worse, now after you kick the ac off it comes back louder than ever. So what all can go bad on the ac clutch and how hard is it to fix?

The amount of work it would be better to replace the whole compressor. Also check the AC tensioner.

I can't afford to replace the whole compressor so I was hoping to change the clutch and be good to go.
