    Problem with new swap

    Guys,

I've posted this over at HP tuners, but I figured I'd hit up you guys as well.

I just finished swapping the LS1 from my Trans Am into my 1993 OBS pickup. Prior to this, it had a 5.3L swap in it from an 04' Avalanche. It ran great then but was merely a stepping stone until the LS1 could be rebuilt. Here is where I have the problem...

I put the LS1 in my truck now and kept the truck DBW throttle body and the truck MAF sensor. I ulitized the truck PCM that controlled the 5.3 and simply copied over all of the LS1 PCM's tables into the 5.3 PCM. I hooked everything up the other night and it started right up and idled fine.

The problem occurs when I put it in gear, either forward or reverse, it will drive fine for about 3 or 4 seconds, then almost die for a full second or two, and then rev right back up to where it was at before the surge happened. And this repeats every 3 or 4 seconds repeatedly. It does this at any speed, any gear, any temp, but not idling.

I've scanned it with my HP tuners and can't see anything funky other than that when this surge happens, my injector pulse width to drop almost to zero...and then pick right back up to 5 or so after the surge....

Anyways, it blows my mind and I have no clue where to start fixing...so any help is appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Cody B.

Keep the tune you had in there, go back to the original tune.
Just change the ve and maf table, there's no reason to copy all those tables from a camaro file to a truck file, if that's what you're saying.
I bet if you put the original file back in the pcm, idle it up about 50rpms, it'll run better.
Copying all those tables makes a mess of things, try it, see if it works, if not, oh well.

I gotcha...I'll do that and see what all happens.

I just knew that the car tune was spot on before I took it out, so I just wanted to use it again.

I'll throw the truck tune back in it and then just start from scratch dialing in the VE, MAF, RAF, etc.etc.etc....

    *sigh*...lotta work ahead...

Thanks for the input though Alan
