Sorry for not posting sooner about this, we had a hectic weekend. We originally planned on dropping off the Z28 on Thursday, but we got up there too late. We thought they closed pit parking at 6pm, nope it was at 4pm, and they secured the track at 5pm. We headed back up on Friday at 2pm to get a spot. It was already packed, luckily we were able to get a spot ... although way in the back. They were so full of competitors, that they started to fill in to the extra spectator area. As well as the area right next to the timeslip both, which is at the finish line! We made some passes and the Z28 ran in the 12.6 range. Although our BMR X-Treme torque arm started rubbing on our 3.5" Wenco driveshaft. I will be replacing this with a steel 3" Wenco driveshaft (hopefully this week). The car launched great, straight and strong ... lifting the driver's front tire everytime. We also bought an electric scooter to get around the pits. We left the car and trailer there overnight, and we came home to sleep. On Saturday we had alot of test and tune sessions, she was able to read the car very well. So well that she got a 12.605 and a 12.606 back to back. Everything on the time slip was off by only .001 second (less the reaction). It only ran a 12.57 once, so I decided to dail her in at 12.60. Since we could not get a test run before our eliminations on Sunday, I thought this was a good idea. We had to return our electrical scooter because it did not have enough power to carry us around. We found out we couldn't return without the box, so we exchanged it. Turns out that scooter was bad, the new one work great! So good we purchased another one for her (or me). These things fly at 12mph and can hold my video camera, digital camera, weather station and timeslips. So on Sunday we went tooling around the pits waiting to be called. We purchased a launch picture of her from Saturday (this will be posted later on our site) and we even got to talk to Jack Beckman, her Frank Hawley's driving instructor and 2003 Super Comp Champion. He recognized her instantly, great guy to meet and know. After our little chats with tech guys and local racers, we headed back to our pits just in time for our run group to be called. She got paired with a local bracket race friend of ours. I got ready to video tape and noticed they were spraying down VHT, so I line her up on the most stickiest part of the track. She does her burnout and they stage. Lights come down and she gets a better light (.590 to a 1.034). At the top end the other driver dialed in at 13.11 and I dialed Jenibella in at 12.60. The car ran a 12.572 at 107.079 to a 13.14 @ 103. We lost by a break out. I had a feeling I should have dialed her in at 12.57, but ...
This upcoming weekend we will be at LACR again, to race in the Citgo bracket races, then next weekend we will be at Famoso for the Summit ET Finals. Both with the Z28, as it will remain in the current form until after our bracket races, since she is very consistent with the setup now. I better get my game on with the dialing in. I think it will run a 12.15-12.3 @ 109-110 at Famoso. We will see ...
