Started the truck the other day and it was a litlle cold, my idle was fluctuating between i think 450 and 800. finally became regular after I was able to get through enough traffic to were I could drive for a mile or two and give it steady throttle. Curious if there is any insight out there. I think I may have a sensor getting ready to go.

Could be plugs/wires. Or an air intake temp or coolant temp sensor too.

i had the same problem when i first bought my truck. i replaced the intake gaskets and the problem went away. my guess that this will fix your problem. it took about an hour and a half. their about 30 bucks.
