    Ram Air Pics!

Hey guys! I was watching spike tv and came across a elcamino with a dual ram air, that sweet!! I have a 2000 silverado and the air box is stock for now and the lower valance has holes for the fogs which i dont have any.. My question is has anyone done a dual ram air like this on their truck?? if so give me some pointers and some pics if you can.. It would sound awsome i think.

Someone did this a while back by using dryer duct they got from Home Depot or something.

I did something almost identical to a car a few years ago.. You would be suprised what a $4 piece of duct will actually make a difference.

Since you are 4WD, you might be at an advantage with a ram air setup cause you are higher off the ground and rain water and other crap is not as susceptible to enter your air flow. I know that Moze (DamnYankee) did a decent ram air setup on his 03 Z71 a few years back--but then again, it used the lower valence tow hook openings on the newer front end which had bigger openings than yours. It is doable, but make sure you seal it off properly and drill a hole at the lowest part of the tubing for water to drain...

    I'm with him^

We had minor flooding a few weeks ago and the shop here replaced 7 engines. Add in the off brand dealers and indipendant shops and that's a lot of engines in a town of 14K people.

I know AEM makes a goofy looking coupler that is supposed to stop the CAI from sucking water even if submerged. A lot of the lowered imports also use a small breather in filter, near engine, since the air will come from spot with least resistance (try putting a straw in a glass, and one out of glass....and sucking, you CAN'T get liquid up straw...same theory).

A company makes a kit for our trucks (in jegs and summit) its EXPENSIVE tho. Good in theory. Doubt it is required unless motor has a lot done to it, or you do high speed driving. The "ram-air" theory only works above 75mph I believe.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
