whats stock fuel pressure for '01 6.0?

    hi,

wondering what the stock fuel pressure for 01 denali 6.0 is.

reason being i don't think my truck is fixed yet, i cant be this lucky. it stalled out in traffic sat after work, i managed to cut across traffic into mcd's parking lot, i opened the gas cap sat for a minute, kept trying to crank it then it fired, i got a check engine light and i drove it home, idled a little rough, when i got close to home, about 5 miles of driving i stepped on the gas and it was down on power. so i pulled the plugs, way lean. it had both bank lean codes, i put a gauge on it and just 30 psi at idle, goes down to 25 if i let it run. so i changed the filter and i'm up to 40 psi and it runs good, the chk engine light hasn't returned. i did just check the old filter and i can barely blow through it. i have about 10 miles on it so far but am kinda scared to drive it far because the unofficial forum type posts i'm reading are saying it need 50-60 psi? and in the rest of the post talking turbos and stuff. anybody have a manual handy? i want the factory spec. i'm hoping i don't have to change the pump.

    thanks in advance.

so i thought i would take it for another spin just to see if i can get a check engine light again or anything, i would really rather have this thing fail on me now when i'm expecting it than when my wife is driving it. it started fine, drove 2 blocks, started to sputter then died on the way back a block away from my house. i'm now soaked head toe from pushing in the rain, i cant believe i got it back.

anybody have any tips on what pump to buy? jobber should have delco in stock, or the local speedshop usually sells walbro kits for most cars, if its direct drop in and wont be buggy it will likely be cheaper so i'll go with that. i read on here the walbro may not maintain pressure when shut down so it has a longer crank and start time??? any truth to this?

and lastly any tips on replacement in the yukon denali? like a 1 hr job in my alley? 2 hrs?

    thanks!

Go with the Delco pump, and you'll have to drop the tank to replace it. Hopefully your tank is less than 1/4 tank, that would help. It's not a lot of fun, but you can tackle it.

In an alley? Not sure. At least 2 hours. I routinely do them with a lift in 35 minutes but it takes practice. Certain year models have a different plug that requires a wiring pigtail swap.

well, over 2 hrs to drop the tank in the rain. its sunny now, picked up the new pump, i can see will have to splice on a new pigtail but problem is, it says new fuse included in the kit? there is no fuse, what value should i replace the old with?

It's a effect of a recall GM had on 2000 full length (Suburban Yukon) SUV's to change the connector and the fuel level sensor. Now most GM pumps and therefore a lot of aftermarket pumps come with the new style plug built on and the pigtail to convert the harness. Since the GM recall kit came with a fuse, someone thought it was needed on them all. The recall kit came with a 20A fuse JUST LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT WITH so to make a long story short, don't worry about it.
