Newbie here - 6.0 swap truck needs help

I just bought a 04 ext.cab 2wd. Vin comes back to a 4.8L truck. Well I pop the hood and it says Vortec Max on the cover. The way i understand is the max is a 6.0 (lq9) right? Well the gauges are definetly not factory either, They have silver around the tach and speedo, the speedo registers 120mph, and increases in 20mph incraments. and it has a trans temp in the bottom left. It also has electric fans, dont know if they work yet but it doesn't overheat. Revs way past 6 grand so i dont know if its tuned or not. I just thought someone could shine some light on this for me and let me know what i got myself into.

It may just have a different engine cover on it. And it sounds like it has a Denali cluster in it.

Thats what I thought but its got the different cluster and a 6disc in dash head unit, and its not got a g80 code, but its got one in it (i had to change an axle, It is a rebuild truck). I figured maybe all the goodies came from the same doner. But do they put the vmax(or 6.0) in the Denali? It will literally roast the back tires off in first and second but then doesn't seem that its all there when cruising then roamping on it, sorta like my Z71 will out pass this truck even with the 35's I had on it. (they both got 3.73's) Is there any way to figure out if its got a 4.8 PCM or a 6.0? Trans temp works by the way, didn't know the 4l60e had a temp sensor.

Sorry for all the crazy questions. And Thanks for the welcome

Yea the trans is prewired for the temp gauge.

Engine covers are easy to swap. If its a 6.0L chances are it has 317 head castings on it.

All 60e's have temp sensors.... the PCM needs them. Not all trucks have the gauge. Swap out the cluster and you have a temp gauge.

Bottom front on the RH (passenger) head.

You have a swapped to better cluster, a tune (or it wouldn't go that RPM), and efans swapped in. Good job, even if it's a 4.8 you have a lot of the expensive mods out of the way.

    Welcome.
