    cam for my 5.3L

Ok guys at SAR i won the raffle for the $150 gift certificate to comp cams, So im going to get a cam for my 99 ecsb. what cam should i get? The only things ive done to the truck are borla muffler, CAI, servo, MSD wires, and it has the stock 3.73 gears with the G80 locker. Im also going to get a live tune from nelson performance within next month. will it be worth it to put a cam on my truck, it just reached 100K miles. any help is appricated.

is the 5.3 in the white truck, or the brown one? A cam is a good investment. But make sure it will work well with future plans. Like FI or NA. It will help you decide what route you wanna go.

the 5.3L is in the white truck, but im currently swaping a 5.3L in the brown truck also. im going to get a cam for the white truck for now. oh and i plan on keeping the 99 silverado NA. and as for the 82 c10 im not sure if im going with a turbo or NA so the motor is going in stock for now. this is the motor and tranny going in the 82 c10.

I think you would like the ASA cam. I ran it and picked up 60whp with it. And its easy on the valvetrain. Works with the yellow springs which are $50 and responds better to more open exhausts.

With a stock stall, I went 14.7 @ 95mph with a truck that weighed 4850 with me in it. With a stall, mid 13's was were it would have been. That was also on a 4.8. Youll need at least a 3k rpm stall. It is mostly sound, but if you setup your exhaust right... large gains can be seen. My peak power was at 6k rpms.
60whp with $150 cam, and $50 springs, and $118 pushrods is a killer deal.

The comp cam's high lift 212/218 113 is also a very popular choice for lsx trucks. More mid to low end power than the 220/220 from what I have read.

Awesome cam for a stalled RCSB. His truck is an ECSB 4WD. I am with tx tahoe Z71 on his duration numbers...a 212/218 is good for a stock stall 4WD truck. I would look at something near a 212/218 .525/.535 114 LSA.
