I am looking for an LQ4. (01+, w/wiring harness)
I think I'd like to put it into my '89 K1500 RCSB. It weighs right at 5000 lbs.
I'd be tickled if I could keep my 5-speed trans till it breaks (If it does, I will hunt down an NV4500.)
3.73 open 10-bolt in the back, and 31.6" tall tires (265/75/16)
I would like something I could wind up on occasion, to the tune of 5500-6000. A little less if I still have the stock cam.
I know of a 99 or 00 6.0 for sale for $950 complete, but I hear it would be trouble to use.
I guess the question is, am I looking for the right engine for this setup? What would you guys change about the layout?
What would the experts of ls1truck have to say?
1989 K1500 RCSB 4x4
350 Gen 1, topped with special swirlport GM 193 castings, "Tool Box Injection". Slightly bumpy stick that some might refer to as a camshaft of some sort. Dual exhaust, with, erm, vent holes for increased performance. And a 5-speed stick shift, no kidding about that.
