    Cam suggestions

I've got a '04 ECSB 5.3L with ~48,000 miles. I'm not going to be racing. Mainly a DD with occasional heavy towing. I just want more torque! I rarely see a 5000+ pull. I want something that will keep the mileage up and give more power. I've got the G80 with 3.42s so I might be looking at a posi or trutrac(recommendations??) Since I'm leaning more towards torque, will the stock converter and tranny be fine, or should I beef it up? Comp recommended a 54-408-11 which is a 206/212. Click! Also looking at this valvetrain upgrade kit. Do I need a new timing chain? Valve locks? Valve seals?

EDIT: I have a K&N CAI and flows catback. Headers are in the budget, too.

Check out the 080 cam in the link below. It should fit your requirements. Your stock tranny should be OK if you don't beat on it too hard. Your stock converter will work OK, but you would be happier with something like a Yank TT2600. Something with a heavy-duty clutch for when you tow.

I run a cam called the OLD man cam by Thunder Racing. For a off the shelf torquey cam its not that bad. I ran it for MONTHS without a stall and was fine. And its a bit bigger then the ones listed so far.

Will that cam still get decent mileage? I know when I'm pulling a fully loaded 5000+ lb trailer I won't care, but when I'm unloaded I want something that sips the gas not chugging it like my '73 F100, 6 MPG loaded or unloaded FTW!
