    68 chevelle SS

    Share some pics of a 68 SS Chevelle I am restoring for a friend.









    Paint is a Hot Hues Razzling Red
    67 Camaro SS 350 and a 67 Camaro back half car

    Is it a real 13867 VIN car? There was only 2XXX of them made in '68. I had a 13837 hardtop (still can spout off the whole VIN). If the VIN starts with anything other than 13867 it's not a real SS convertible in 1968.

    Yes it 13867 vin car, and being a convertible is making it a pain in the a$$ to find parts.

    Still have all the parts out of the 396 motor, but he wanted to upgrade. So here is the new motor built by HKE:
    4.125" bore
    3.76" stroke
    6.635" Eagle H-beam rods
    Custom Wiseco pistons (38cc doom)
    AFR BBC 305 heads with CNC chambers (114cc)
    0.04 head gasket
    compression ratio 10.53:1
    Comp cam retrofit 887-16 hydraulic roller lifters
    Comp Pro Magnum Rockers
    Custom grind cam 224/230 .595/.578 HR110 +4 (CB 3119B/3112B)
    Double roller timing chain
    Edelbrock Performer RPM air gap intake

    Also he wanted to keep the original powerglide that was in it. Had it rebuilt by Circle D

    Also added Full Stainless LT headers and exhaust from Bassani.

    Yep it's just a little BBC. Owner didn't want 600rwhp, so we gave him approx 450rwhp through the powerglide.

    Original Powerglide in an SS396? Might have been a credit option....

    Let me know if you ever run across an Island Teal with Medium Teal interior VIN 138378K179201. The good ole days of 13 digit VIN's with ONE letter...LOL
