    Need converter!!!

Well Ive checked my tranny for any damage and hooked it up to a diagnostic computer which tells me everything is fine. I have a Boss Hogg 3k converter and its slippn pretty bad now daily drivin it until 3rd gear.

Im lookn at a Circle D or Yank 3k converter but dont knw what I need or how radical. Its a daily drivin truck that does race on weekends. I would say it puts about 450ft/lbs to the ground and is a 2000 camaro trans. What kind of prices am i lookn at here?? I plan on ordering this week

might just be the bands in the tranny. went threw 2 700r4's in me 88 before i put in a th400. the 700 and ur 4L60E are pretty much the same transmission, with similar parts being used. I doubt a computer will be able to read if the bands are slipping or not. by the sound of the power u r making, u r on the fine line of how much a 4L60E will handle. you might want to think about doing an 80E swap or a th400. correct me if im wrong but a converter wont cause ur tranny to slip, only the bands will cause this? idk if im right or not about that but just my $.02

How did you check the trans? We can definitely get you a converter that will perform great, but you might have other problems. I don't know anything about Boss Hogg. A 3000+ should be good, but would need more info to narrow it down.

I do. I flushed three $99 3000 RPM stall Boss Hogs through my THM400 before I got my $$$$ back from Harry's Hot Rod Shop in Grand Prairie. What a POS. Never knew they made OD lock-ups but if they can't make a converter for a 400, they can't do that for sure!

Im gonna drop the tranny this week, Im starting to think it isnt the converter by the way its actin with just 2nd gear. It engages without me feelin it and slips the whole time until it hits third and grabs normal driving. Ill be givin Circle D a call this week, im also lookn into a Yank but not sure yet. Thanks for the info again

Sounds more like a trans issue than a converter. Not to say that a converter coming apart could not cause trans issues but I think it would be best to address both at the same time. Vince

Sounds good, looking forward to the call. The converter does now know what gear you are in, it just transfers power. So if you are having different issues in different gears, probably trans. But as Vince said, it could still be the converter going and the debris are causing issues.
