    Truck caught on fire (totalled)

Yesterday while in San Antonio I had an engine fire. Burned up a lot of stuff. Needs new complete engine and wire harness, and a hood. Ill get pics of carnage ASAP. No I wasn't Racing. It was on the highway.
Insurance said that it would cost almost as the trucks is worth to fix it.

    So I can either...
    1. Let them take it and Gap coverage will cover anything over the book value.
Then try and find another ride.
    2. I can get a check for almost the value of the truck, fix it myself, and have a salvage title.
I'm leaning twards #2 But the Bank has to endorse the check that the insurance gives me. I don't see why they would. I still owe a lot on the truck.
    What do you guys think?

gonna have to go with this Idea. Start with a better platform now that you have the chance. Thats what i would do. Sorry about the truck bud, that sucks. atlease your all right.

Tough choice, depending on how much you owe and how much equity you have in the truck you may be better off just gettn the check and payin a good chunk of it off and fixn it yourself.

    I have a 06 SSS 2WD 47K and already has lots of bolt-ons....

You don't want the salvage title. You'll hardly be able to ensure it again. The total may not pay the note but you're still better off. Let's talk.

theres that nonsense again....an R-title vehicle can be insured and etc just like a normal vehicle. the only thing about it is that in some eyes its not worth as much as a clean title, But if you want to get technical alot of clean title vehicles arent worth a dime
