I have LT's no cats with the pipes stopping at the factory flanges under the passenger seat. I've been running it open headers for over a year now and finally got stopped by a cop for noise pollution. now i have to put an exhaust on my truck and i want to have the same sound or similar sound to a gto with a slp loudmouth exhaust. I put on a set of gutted glass packs that i had lying around from my high school days just to get by. Needless to say it sounds like crap i didnt even put tips on it( most of the popping sound) and made it exit on the passenger side before the tire. I had to get something on it to show the judge that i got an exhaust or else i would be paying yet another fine on top of the one i just paid last week for speeding. I already caught hell from some friends that heard my exhaust! It sounds horrible! haha it pops at almost all throttle positions up to WOT! those of u who have heard an old 7.3 non turbo diesel with 2" duals should know what im talking about. I did get some props from some backwoods rednecks in a stuffed in beater ford with an a-frame winch welded to the bed to make a tow truck! I dont know whats worse my exhaust or their dental hygene.
Needless to say I have to build a serious exhaust for it now and I was wondering if anyone on here has duplicated the slp loudmouth sound on their truck and how they did it. I really dont want to spend 154 on a set of resonators that will make my truck sound like billy bo bobs 4 wheel drive doing a single wheel burnout in the walmart parking lot. Eventhough beer bottles and beer cans can usually be found rattling around in the bed of my truck just like billy bobs, that doesnt mean i want my exhaust to sound like billy bobs. I have a two post lift, mig and exhaust bender ready to build whatever i want but i dont know how to get the sound i want. I have made several exhaust systems thats sound great but i have never tasked myself with the sound that a loudmouth exhaust does. Im assuming a set of shotgun resonators and some 4" dual wall tips will get simialr results.
Any help would be appreciated.
