    got a 4.8L V8 and need suggestions!!

I got a 4.8L V8 and want some more mods. I got a hypertech programmer, K&N intake, no muffler with just stock cat and resi.
Ive been looking at long tube pacesetter headers and y-pipe. Is my stock 4.8 gonna have a good response with those? or would I loose too much backpressure and will high flow cats help? do I need tuning?
Last question is where can i find the best place to purchase all i need?

Thanks to whoever posts replies. Im a local street racer with a bunch of friends with f-body cars. Im lookin to be faster and donno what route to take bc they all got stroked LS1s and stuff so no advice from them.

save yourself and just go back and edit your post to say your going to get a nelson tune as soon as you can. thats definitely what everyone is going to tell you to get instead of the hypertech. but it sounds like your headed in the right direction

    Losing backpressure is always good.

Oversizing pipe causing too low exhaust velocity is bad.

LT's cannot hurt at all. Not sure what a "resi" is but if it's short for resonator, then what model is that?

    LOL

I thought the current 6.2 GMC and Cadillac utilities were the only ones with a resonator.

Anyhow....ditch the progammer and get a real tune, no matter where. You'll need one with the ORY anyway.

    What do you street race?

thx for tha replies. I race my friends cars mostly and mine occasionally. 94 firebird with LT4 and 500+ hp and an RX7 with a stroked V8 and nitrous. I go out to tha street races cause I enjoy it and have alot of friends that go. Im wanting to do more mods to mine so ill race it more. I thought i had a resonator because after the stock y pipe it has 2 cats and i never heard of having 2 on the same exhaust pipe! so i thought it would be a resonator.
Ive been on a budget is the only reason I have the programmer. I bought it a long time ago and have just kept it.
Will it hurt to put the long tubes on it without tuning? I plan on gettin nelson tuning but cant afford it because college right now. Ive save up alot just to get the headers and y pipe but will do it if I need to. I cant find a good place to buy the headers and y-pipe!

A V8 RX7. That sounds like to much work to me. I'm glad I don't have an LT4....LOL. Sounds good. That programmer is as much as a real tune unless you got it used.

Aside from the Tune that you need quick. I would swap to 4.10 is you are going to stay N/A. Makes them better off the line. And probably a stall after that. Trucks are heavy and the hardest thing to do is get them off the line hard.
