    Out a work.

Well this sucks, was going to take out a small loan for some upgrades and found out monday that over 30 of us are going to be permanatly layed off. This company's so $h*ty that they only do this around christmas time. 8 years ago when it was still owned by OMC everyone went home for the 2 week off for the holiday and came back to find the gate locked and the plant closed. MFers, sorry guys pissed of, just doing a little venting.

I'm sorry to hear that. If you do end up getting laid off the best thing you can probably do is go down to lowes or home depot and get a job there for the time being untill you can get another decent job. At least that way you will still have some cash flow. I'm really sorry to hear this.

I hear ya. They just laid off 25% of the people at my shop, and now we are closed on friday and EVERY one works 32 hours a week now. And no guarantees of anything past Feb unless China and India start buying stuff. I machine quartz for a company that makes the parts Intel and Texas Instruments use to make microchips in. The racks are EMPTY of orders for the rest of the year :bites nails: The stuff on tv and newspapers has hit my house and it is scary. +1 on hitting unemployment asap. Good luck bro.

Anyone need something fixed that you can't do yourself?

Looks like my hit this year will only be about $9K. At least I had another kid this year.

Yeah we've got a company like that here, unimin, that refines the quartz and sends it to whom ever to make what ever, but luck would have it one of the 6 plants here burnt to the ground two weeks ago so be at least 2 year before they hire again.

Im in the same boat man, Ive been out of wrk since september. I was a plant manager for an affiliate of Ford, we shipped parts to the mexico plants where they make the wiring harnesses for the pickups, I had 9 years at this place and I basically had the rug pulled out from under me. Luckily the large severance package and my savings etc. have kept me afloat. Oh well, I believe things happen for a reason, hang in there man.
