    Question Converter On the Fritz??

    So here's the deal. When I'm just cruising, it shifts fine, acts normal and sounds normal, but when I start to get into boost and get to about 4-6psi, it's like the trans goes to neutral. Boost keeps building but I don't accelerate. Plus, I can feel like a grinding in the trans. If I back off the gas and just accelerate normally, it works just fine. Any ideas??

    check the fluid, see if its burnt, also im with nathan what gear does it do this in?

    Fluid still red not sure what it's supposed to smell like. Typically it's in 2nd gear when this happens.

    your 2nd gear band is slipping, i had this happen also, time to replace it before you loose 2nd all the way...if the fluid was burnt it would smell like bad and be purplish to black color

    Probably not the converter as it would affect all gears. Could be the band, forward clucthes, an internal oil leak, servo piston seal, low line pressure or the forward sprag start to come apart (common failure on 04+ in stock form). Not sure what type of sprag FLT uses.

    Remove the trans and pull the pump and input housing to replace band and/or sprag.

    hell didnt notice you have an FLT trans, just holler at them boys they will tell ya whats wrong with it and take care of you on it
