    Traction Bars

I am just letting you guys know that I am building my own Traction bars for my truck. I think that my dad has all of the supplys and I know that he has the welder.

So if anybody is interested I could let you have the diagram and the dimensions for them.

They are basically the same as the lakewood bars.

Here is a link of what they will look like.

Just thought that I would let you guys know.

Yeh but, I want to keep the overload spring working right and keep the ride quality there.

Good idea, but I can build these for really cheap!

I would but I want something that I can take off and use on my next truck. So that is why I am going this route.

Like I said I use my truck quit a bit, so messing with the overload spring is out of the picture with me. I need it to work right.

On a side note, the method that you have mentioned is a good cheap mod, but with my older truck my springs twist more. So that is why I am choosing to isolate it closer to the axle. With my posi, I get a lot of wheel hop on wet and dry pavement. Plus I don't want to loose any ground clearance.

So that is why I choose to go with these bars. They seem to be the best solution for my needs. If you have a better solution than what I have found, please let me know. I am open to other opinions, as long as they fit my needs and what I want them to do.

I understand what you are talking about with the racers, but I am no racer. I am not looking to go with a ladder bar set-up or a 4 link set-up. I am looking for the solution to my problem with my current truck. My truck is at stock height. So the pinion angle should be within spec, so that shouldn't be the issue. I have my thoughts on why it is doing it, but I am not going to go and replace the whole rear susp for that problem. I am just looking to reduce or eliminate my wheel hop problem.
I am not going to lift this truck at all, so if I am going to try and go with a ladder bar set-up I would also lift it about 6" and swap out the IFS for a straight axle. But like I said it is not the truck that I would do that set-up with.

I am just looking for other ideas for my purpose.

I don't agree with Quik on this one. I made my own set-up with slapper bars and they kick butt. Yea my truck runs low 15's, so did all these other trucks when they were almost stock, so I want that ruled out right away. Longbars do work great, but so do these or they wouldn't still be around. The reason you don't see slappers on 8 and 9 second cars is because most of them are running 4 link set-ups and no longer have leaf springs. I say do what you want, I get way more satisfaction out of making my own designs work, than just bolting off the shelf parts on. Wheel hop will come with most leaf spring rear set-ups. My first truck was an S10 and that thing hopped like a banshee, but I got a set of Lakewoods on it and it all went away. I don't think we need to start a war on here over this, but I don't think it's right to tell a guy that what he wants to do will "never" work.

the rubber snubber sounds like it would work pretty good. But i say Quik should do whatever and if it does not work try somthin else!

snubbers work really good, another personal favorite of mine is adding an extra leaf to the FRONT of the pack only and then clamping the leafs with spring clams. Doesnt change the ride really at all (if anything i say it'll ride smoother) and works like a charm at eliminating axle wrap. Dodge used to do this with they're old "Superstock" springs.

Never have been and never will be a fan of 'slapper bars'

Slo92...quik isn't the one trying to decide what to do haha, he was telling this guy not to try anything but a longbar setup, and like justin_inc, I've heard great things about the spring clamp trick too, also a cheap way to get the job done, but as I said before, do whatever you want to.
