At the track the other night and I see a black 2-dr Jag in the staging lanes with his hood up so I take a look. Supercharged, tan leather interior,very very nice car. I ask who he was racing? he pointed to a guy in a Maxima. I said I'd like to race him just to get a time slip on a s/c Jag. He asked what I was driving and wanted to race me when I pointed out my extended cab truck.The Maxima let me in line and asked me how fast my truck was. I told him and the guy in the Jag that I though it was just a little faster than the Jag. They laughed and I laughed and we got in our cars because the line started to move. When we pulled up to the burn-out area he went through the water and only half-ass drys them. I know then he is in trouble on the hole shot. We turn on the staging lights and I'm surprised when he jumps with me on the third amber. Both start green but he spins, and I'm out on him, but he's coming, I catch second and hit the switch (yea I know, cheater cheater) and hold him off pretty good, when I hit third he pulls on me but not enough, I hold him off well past the 1/4 mile mark untill we let out at about 115. Memphis has a long track with a big looping right turn at end. He ran 14.0 @ 100 with a good launch he's in the 13's. He said he had a Viper that could beat me.
I smiled and said " ya reckon " bring it next week.
How often can you race something that expensive and rare ( 3 in the mid-south according to owner) the Jag not the Viper.
