well, if your not changing gears, its not too hard. I just did this myself. after taking your brakes off the rear and pulling the pinion pin out, sliding out the axles, then pull the main caps, and pull the case out, making sure not to mix up the factory shims. replace the case with the new one along with new bearings pressed onto the carrier, and then check for backlash, and do a pattern test on the gears. Also before taking out the old carrier, check your backlash so you can keep the same backlash when you mate the gears back in, also mark the gears to make sure they go back in the same way they came out(tooth to tooth). it sounds harder than it really is, but i go to school for this. I did it bymyself and it took about 3 hours, not too bad.

p.s., this is all in a nutshell.

Never put one in but I understand you can do it without removing the carrier. So it should be easier. If you are putting down any serious power it would be better to get a full posi like eaton or Auburn however...

I have this setup and it works great. The only disadvantage is that it clicks when you make tight turns in a parking lot. It hooks real good when you launch hard, no slip at all. Deff easy to install, took me less than an hour.Originally posted by storm5.3@May 12 2004, 08:10 AM

Cool, thats what I wanted to know. I got one coming. Next will be a tune i hope, I already have a wake up kit in the trans ( billet servos and oversized boost valve),I also put in some blue plate specials on the 3-4 clutch pack, went with the performance 1-2 accum. spring, and the black kevlar band. The only thing that I wished that I had done when I rebuilt it last year was that I had beefed it up more. How much abuse do you think it will take if I just stop with a tune for now...Zed![]()
