My buddy has a 91 vette he's been building for a while now.
It's a L98 Auto, trany rebuild with shift kit, 355, big cam, headers, ram air, no emissions, dyno tuned, 345 gear(I think, not sure what ratio).
A little background...
He's a good friend but he also gave me so much sh!t about making a truck fast. Always making fun of me and calling it stupid.
So it was my goal from the beginning to beat him.
We raced many times but the first was the best...
We got on the highway and I was in 1st gear about 4,000rpm.
I pulled him hard in every gear and by the time I shifted into 4th my other buddy(in the vette with him) said I was about three cars ahead of him.
All the other races(rolling start @ different MPH and dead stop) I would pull him hard in every gear.
I'm having trouble hitting third gear and he still couldn't pass me.
I don't know if its harder to hit third because of the mid-shift conversion or the long shifter handle is throwing me off. I guess I just need to practice.
just though you guys would enjoy this one
p.s. I also kinda race a LT1 camaro on the highway about a week ago. He was going about 65 so I put it in third, romped it a couple times and then it was on. To be honest I think it was a auto and when he hit it I don't know if it down shifted where he wanted it to but I pulled him about two cars.
