I noticed something last week on my new truck, in my 2001 4.8 it shifted into second at about 5700RPM, and a little less going into 3rd. My new truck (04' 5.3) shifts into 2nd at about 5100. Whats up with that i feel like the engine is just starting to pull when it shifts. is this new for 04? or just on the 5.3's? im not too worried about it because i'll be getting a tune when my Radix comes in. but i found it interesting, anyone know why GM did this?

Because the stock GM tune SUX, LOL, hahaha.

    JK,
I'm sure it's there to keep everything together, not that they blow up if you rev them, but you know how stock tunes are, they aren't meant for performance.

Plus, there wouldn't be an aftermarket tune available if they were optimized,

    see ya online,

Well what i do, is just manual shift the auto. I hold it in 1st untill just under the rev limiter, then in 2nd till about the same...by the time i hit 3rd, i am at 90 mph. That way i dont cut off 2nd in the middle of its powerband.

Now with what i just said, i need somebody to confirm the mph range of each gear. For my 02 4.8, it seems like by it self, it shifts from 1st to 2nd at 45-50, and from 2nd to 3rd at 80 mph...this sound right????

    Thanks
