    AWD/FWD whats the differnce?

    ok so i was watchin all the SS silverados run and we started talkin about the famous CLIFFORD. what is the difference in the AWD drivetrain and the Z71 drivetrain?????
    2009 CHEVROLET 1500 with a MONSTER 4.8 between the frame rails!!

    An AWD platform allows some slippage between the front and rear driveline for hard pavement. This keeps from wearing out driveline parts and tires that will never turn at exactly the same speed. Most 4x4's have more of a gear to gear transfer case that doesn't allow much slippage meant for dirt or off road use.

    four wheel drive would be all 4 when you want it.... and 2wd the rest of the time

    ie off road driving, ice, etc etc

    AWD is all 4 wheels at all time

    i know that part i was really kinda really wonderin if a Z could hit the track as hard as ol clifford does?
