    Stock air box with cone filter

    I've seen a few pic's on here that look like some people have taken out there stock filter and replaced it with a cone style filter and left the lid off. What size filter do you use and does it help out in any way? Is it anythin like a cai?

    I picked up a $30 spectre from advanced auto parts I believe it's 4 inch. And yes I noticed a difference

    You would have to check the fitment of a cone filter in the stock airbox. The OEM filter is flat and fits in there a specific way. If you are cool with taking a saw to your stock airbox, go ahead and try it... But I would just go buy a CAI instead of hacking up my stock airbox...

    I need to get some pictures up of my cold air intake. It is completely homemade but will perform at least as well as a $270 K&N setup, and this cost me $40... and it really doesn't look bad.

    You guys have better trucks, but this one has been a good high school ride. Just give me a year or two and I will have something better.... or an LS1.

    I got a picture of that intake I was talking about. it isn't perfect, but for under $50 it works for me. Things would be a little different on a v8 but it could be done.
