Cool How to bore and port a tb

I know I have seen this question answered b4 but I have searched and can't find it. Anyway I want to bore and port my TB. Can anyone tell me how to go about this? Would I be better to just take it to the machine shop, or should I just order a new larger size? Look over my stupidity all help appreciated

Well, first off, boring and porting are essentially the same thing. You want to port and then polish the TB. You can get a Dremel tool with several different grades of sanding and polishing wheels. Start off with the lowest grit of sanding wheel to knock down the bigger sections you want to port. As you work your way around, get the next higher number (finer) sanding wheel. You can port it out pretty good, but be aware that you should not port the TB opening where the butterfly valve is--if you get the opening too big then you will have to cut a larger butterfly valve plate to compensate for the bigger opening. Once you have it ported to where you want it, put on a polishing wheel and smooth it out.

Does anyone have any step by step pictures of how you do this? Also does this help at all or is it a waste of time?

Don't stay in one place for too long while porting you can distort the metal. Oh yeah good luck I would practice on an old junk T.B. first.
