I have a whipple s/c on my truck, cat back and all that but i cant seem to get good times out of it. My best time at the track is 15.2 with a trap speed of 92 mph. What is going on. Am i loosing just that much more power with the 4x4 over a 2wd? What to do???

whats your 60 ft? i had a whipple on my truck and i had to take 3 degrees out of the timing the computer already pulled out to get the motor from detonating. with all that tunnnig i had to do to get it to run right i beat a stock 03 buy 1 car. whipples power is mostly out of the hole. you should check out parish8 on ls1tech.com he had a good setup on a whipple. My buddie was runnig 16lbs of boost on a 5.3 with a whipple and the best he could run was a 12.8 he bumped it up to 18 or 20lbs i can remeber and it lifted the head. he could have ran alot better but there was so much tourqe he couldnt get the truck to hook it was just all over the place.

Hey, I looked at your website and I saw that you have the 33 inch tires, Did you ran with that tires? if you did that is definitly slowing you down, try to go to the track with smaller tires and you'll see a big difference.
Try to wait between races so the truck can cool down.
Also try to get a custom tunning to get the most out that whipple, I have Allen's tune and it's great, definitly recommend it.

    Hope this helps.

I ran at the with stock size tires. Im going to put in 4.56 gears soon to run the 33's. How would i take timing out? Tunning? I am not getting any detonation right now but i am going to 10 psi with an alcohol injection system. After that do you think a tune would be best? Its a lot of clams for a tune...like $500!!!

Man when you get those 4.56's try it on the track with the stock tires just to see what can that baby do

With the 10psi and alcohol injection tunning is gonna be needed for sure but, why wait?, there is a lot of hidden power on your truck, performance tunning is a most, believe me, you won't regret it, I got mine just to get the most out of my truck, not because of detonation problems and the truck felt totally different, it's alot faster, more responsive and the MPG went up; It's worth every penny. Besides, with nelson's you've got free upgrades for life so you can change it or adjust it for future mods.

Trust me, sell your Hypertech and get a tune, you won't believe the difference.

    Check:

    01-02 GM Trucks Performance Programming - $425
    03-04 GM Trucks Performance Programming - $490"

and besides there is a group purchase right now, so you can save a little more $$$

Thanks for the advice but I thought that to get a good performance tune you needed to run the truck on a dyno and adjust acordingly? If i get the nelson PCM and later a get like a cam and heads all i have to do is just call them up and tell them that and they can tune for what i have? No dyno runs needed? Nelson sounds really good....jsut a few questions i have. After the alky adn the 4.56's i think that will be my next mod. Thanks forthe help and any other advice you oculd give me whould be great. Like trans mods and stuff like that.

If you get injectors and programmed with alky you might be able to run more then 10. I had a whipple on my truck i never tryied alk injection, i just ran stock boost and it detonated left and right. but i also live in california crappy gas and hot. I know a whole bunch of people from whipple I can get you a deal next time you want anything. I did have the hook up on edit my buddie was a programmer a whipple and they have ulimited edit for everything, but he quit so lost that hook up.
