    Engine Oil Cooler

Ok, well i know that not many, if any at all of the 1500 trucks with the 4.8/5.3 have a factory engine oil cooler, like mine has the aux trans cooler for the towing package, but no oil cooler.

Over the turkey day holiday i bought a radiator and e-fan setup out of a 2007 Silverado, and i want to swap it into my 03. The radiator has and engine oil cooler built into it, and id like to know what parts i need to hook it up.

Also does anybody know if the 2007 NBS radiator will fit into my 03? It looks to be about the same size, and the mounting on the upper core support is the same.

I did similar, I installed an '06 Suburban rad with oil and trans cooler into my Z a while back. Also I have the '05+ fans and the factory e-fan harness.

Anyway, all you need is the oil cooler block with lines. It's all one piece. I paid only $35 for mine on ebay, some asshat bought it on accident, so it was good for me. I swear I priced it around $100 at the dealer.

You just fish it up down the side of the block and it bolts there. You will need some large "E" clips to retain the cooler lines to the radiator, again dealer parts.

It adds around 0.75-1 quart more capacity from what I can tell. Also I think it's controlled by a thermostat. Oh, and a 180F thermo is more than low enough for that huge radiator.

cool ill have to start searching ebay and see if i cam come across one.

You dont happen to have any part numbers do you?

And i figured it was temp controlled, most of the factory ones are. I was also thinking about just getting an aftermarket one and running some braided line to the rad, but id rather have a factory appearance once its all done.

Ok, did alittle more searching. The internet is great, i dont know how the world ever got along without it before Al Gore invented it.

Anyways, i knew that Lingenfelter sells a billet aluminum adaptor that has -10 an fittings for the oil in and out, and a fitting for a temp guage and a fitting to feed oil to a turbo or s/c. But it cost 100 bucks, and then you got to get lines and fittings, and its gets expensive pretty quick, and its not the factory look i was looking for.

Well i looked up a 2003 Silverado 1500HD and it list an oil cooler hose for 73 bucks, and the pic shows both hoses that hook to the radiaor and the block that bolts on above the oil filter. Its not a normally stocked item, but since its over 50 bucks you can get free shipping off the website. Heres the link

While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at PartsAmerica.com

Im going to order this in the next couple weeks hopefully, and will post up more info when i do the install.

I found a couple part numbers for the factory hose assmebly, but neither one of them are any good, so this may be the cheapest option. Now keep in mind im going to be installing an 07 NBS radiator and efan setup and the rad has the oil cooler in it, so you would either need to swap out the rad, or just have some fittings welded to the end of the lines and install and aftermarket oil cooler in front of the rad.
