against 90 Mustang GT with LT headers and gears; beat him 14.64 to 14.76
against an Acura RSX Turbo??? with tuning; beat him 14.74 to 15.07
against an 03 HEMI Reg Cab Short Bed; beat him 14.71 to 14.90 ( he had a 360 intake and Flowmaster muffler)
Against a Supercharged GTP, dunno what mods at least cold air intake; got beat at the end just barely (but still lost) at 14.79 to his 14.75
against an 02 Dodge 4 door full size non HEMI; beat him 14.79 to 16.75
and then finally got waxed by a 71 Challenger with a big block, LT headers, dumps, and a nice CAM and slicks; got creamed at 14.8 to his 12.05

What a night. I'm pleased with this 5445lb truck and a few bolt ons.

I was ahead of everyone but the challenger until 3rd gear at ~80MPH, then almost all of them started catching me... especially that GTP, I was almost an entire car length, @1000ft I was 12.32 to his 12.37. When the truck hits 3rd, it dies a horrible death. I know it's a truck, but are you guys having the same trouble? You're ahead, then tranny shifts into 3rd and you hope to hell you can keep the lead until the end of the track while your competitor starts catching you?

you need a good cam for your SS. that'll extend your rpm range out, and keep the hp climbing.

then those punks wont catch up to you no more

Nice kills there bro!!

And who cares if you lost to a 71 Challenger, cuz you actually had the chance to race a 71 Challenger!

As for 3rd gear, believe it or not 1st and 2nd have the biggest gap between them, 2nd and 3rd are not spaced that far apart. But if you are following out of your power band when you shift into 3rd, then yeah, you got to bring your power band down a little with a cam or something. Or you could always put a little deeper gears in your rear end.

I read about Black60HD and his huge CAM. I just need to find out if it lost torque in the 2k RPM range.

Today was the first day for the truck to pull a boat and trailer. It did well except for the lowered rear end. It sure looked like it was close to the bottom.

Brent,

if your thinkin about a cam now, call up Comp cams or maybe someone like Allen over at Futral MotorSports and ask them what they'd recommend. that way you can get a rough idea on the sorta lift/duration/lsa, you should run.

I think you will be happy with a cam like mine, it really made the 6.0 come alive and it will still tow good. Even without the stall it would pull hard on the bottom end. It comes on hard around 2600-2800 and pulls hard up to 6500. I would shift it higher in first, but i still have stock rod bolts. I think the best part with the cam, is the sound at idle.
